Liquid I.V. is a health-science nutrition and wellness company based out of El Segundo, CA, created to fuel life’s adventures. Their drink mixes are great tasting, non-GMO, made in the USA, and contain no artificial ingredients. Liquid I.V. utilises Cellular Transport Technology (CTT®) to deliver hydration and other key nutrients rapidly into the bloodstream – helping consumers feel better, faster. As part of their 1 to1 Giveback Mission to Change the World, Liquid I.V. has donated over 5M servings to people in need around the globe. Opimizing and marketing to scale

Challenge

Liquid I.V. had a clear need to educate the market about the benefits of proper hydration to distinguish their brand from other beverages on the market that could not deliver what they can. Hydration quickly, efficiently and mobile. The strategy to go to market as a powder that only needed to be added to a bottle of water, which are literally available everywhere we go, was brilliant, and in time the market would catch on.

Approach

Big Presence took over the management and development of Liquid I.V.’s existing Shopify store at first to optimize the site and build out the framework for what would support over 10x growth in sales over the next year, and double that the following. as the site received some TLC, Big Presence was helping the internal LIV team publish dozens of articles on the blog, run multiple campaigns per month, and support all technical needs related to Shopify and the surrounding apps powering marketing.

Bringing hydration to the masses

BUILT ON SHOPIFY PLUS

Liquid I.V. had already gone from LMU dorm room startup to placement in the largest retailers including Whole Foods, CVS, Wallgreens, Target and more. 2018 would be all about growing the brand’s digital presence, and an updated Shopify store would be key to capitalizing on celebrity endorsements by A-listers like Justin Bieber, Steve Aoki, Kygo, Gary Vaynerchuck and dozens more.

Big Presence focused on optimizing the shopping experience with the goal of doubling the site’s ecommerce conversion rate and upping AOV on every purchase. An all out blitz began in the form of content creation, influencer campaigns, advertorials with Goop.com, Well+Good and Deepak Chopra and by the end of 2018, Liquid I.V. had met all of their digital goals, eventually leading to an acquisition by global conglomerate Unilever in 2020.

RESULTS

Big Presence’s role with Liquid I.V. was to develop and optimize the Shopify Plus store, conceptualize and implement email marketing automation campaigns in Klaviyo, build and launch new product and bundle campaigns throughout 2018 and support and manage the digital marketing systems overall, as Liquid I.V.’s internal marketing team tackled a myriad of different initiatives from month to month.

Liquid I.V.’s growth has been massive over the past 2 years. Soon after completing work with Big Presence, Liquid I.V. was eventually acquired by international conglomerate Unilever in 2020.
